Chipmunk G-CMNK

Chipmunk G-CMNK was found in Lithuania after spending many years in storage in California. Last flown in 1973 it is a real time capsule and one of the last original RAF condition aircraft still around.

We are carrying out the process of civilianising and restoring the aircraft to 1960s condition, incorporating many modifications that have been embodied in the last 40 years or so. Some of these are minor, but two major structural modifications to the RH wing spar and spar tie bar need to be carried out in order to increase the fatigue life remaining. There was also a significant amount of damage done to the lower fuselage from years of storage and also several poorly executed repairs in the past.
